TOEFL Test Day Checklist

1. Valid Identification (ID)

This is the MOST important item. You will not be allowed to test without correct ID.

Indian test-takers:
  • Valid passport only (original, not a photocopy, not expired)
  • Passport must include: full name, photo, and signature
  • Aadhaar card is NOT accepted as primary ID for TOEFL

Name on ID must match exactly with your TOEFL registration

2. TOEFL Confirmation Email / Test Appointment Details

  • Printed copy is not required
  • Keep email or ETS login ready on your phone
  • Know your ETS registration number and test start time

3. Arrive Early

  • Arrive at least 30 minutes early
  • Late arrivals may be denied entry and will not be refunded

4. Do NOT Bring These Items Inside the Testing Room

These must be stored in a locker or left at home:

  • Mobile phones (must be powered off and stored)
  • Bags, books, wallets, watches, smart devices
  • Food or drinks (unless approved for medical reasons)
  • Stationery (scratch paper and pens will be provided)

5. What You Should Bring (Optional / Allowed Outside Room)

  • Water bottle/snack for break (kept in locker)
  • Light jacket or sweater (test room may be cold)
  • Hair tie (for long hair – must be visible during check)
  • Prescription glasses (will be inspected during ID check)

6. What Happens at the Test Center

  • Show valid ID
  • Get photographed and fingerprinted
  • Store all personal items in a locker
  • Get assigned a seat and computer
  • Receive scratch paper and pencil
  • Headphones with mic will be provided

After the TOEFL Test

Score Reporting

  • TOEFL scores: Available in 4–8 days after test day
  • GRE scores: Available in 10–15 days
  • You can view your scores by logging into your ETS account

On Arrival at the Test Center

Biometric Verification & Security Process

  • ID verification by test administrator
  • Digital photo capture and fingerprint scan
  • Metal detector screening (in some centers)

Locker Process

  • All personal items must be stored in secure lockers
  • You’ll be provided a locker key or tag

Seating Procedure

  • You will be escorted to your assigned seat
  • Each test station is monitored via webcam and physical supervision
